Kondwani Happy Ngoma Awarded 2025 Coleman Prize for Best PhD Dissertation

The Center for Statecraft and Strategic Communication (CSSC) is proud to share that Kondwani Happy Ngoma, Postdoc Fellow at CSSC, has been awarded the 2025 Coleman Prize by the Association of Business Historians (ABH) for the best PhD dissertation.

Ngoma’s dissertation, Disentangling Empire and Decolonisation, was recognised for its contribution to the field. His PhD research explored how states and firms in Southern Africa navigated risk, shedding light on property rights, corporate relocations, and the geopolitical dynamics of sanctions.

At CSSC, Kondwani continues to build on these insights through his work on sanctions design and implementation, contributing to the centre’s growing research agenda on economic statecraft and international strategic communication.

We warmly congratulate Kondwani on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to following his important research.
